Description

This shield was commissioned for a Museum exhibition in Denmark. The order was for a pair of planked shields based on the archaeological finds from Gokstad. Constructed from Spruce, this was covered with leather, edged with rawhide and finished with a hand beaten type (R)564 Boss. This was left with a natural leather finish, treated with a traditional leather dressing.
